Good question simply put our successive governments administrations call it what you will permitted it.

What utter fools we all were and now sadly we are all paying the price and what's more we have raving lunatics like the American civil liberties union and like-minded unions in other western countries taking their side.

The political correctness policy our administrations have permitted has gotten completely out of sync for what it was originally designed for.

Ok so some smart ass will say but you have permitted foreigners to obtain legal resident status

A simple answer to that one is we felt sorry for them living in the filthy conditions found in their own lands further more a lot were genuine refugees escaping terrorist regimes, we were just being humane.

Look where it got us 9/11 the Bali bombings and many more all tainted with Islamic fundamentalists and their suicide bombers etc.

Look at this jerk could he do what he is doing in his own country, of course he could not it's just one more reason why he moved to a western country.

Israel was a prime example of this thanks to the PLO and HAMAS; things seem to have quietened down there somewhat now thankfully.

Meanwhile honest folk of Christian religious beliefs have to put up with this.

WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE? As I see it the ACLU was originally formed to redress wrongs in America long before these Muslims decided that America and other western countries was their version of the true paradise

I don’t know about you but I am heartily sick of em, a lot of us may not be good Christians but most of us were raised to be, besides it is your country and mine I am talking here not some crackpot Middle Eastern land.

Swarthy bearded individuals who deny their women any rights in most cases; do we do that maybe but rarely, on the whole we are all equal today and I second that.

A racist I’m not but when these people continue doing what they are doing I think a line has to be drawn here.

Take note will you Harper, Rudd, Brown and Bush of all this.

So why are they all still here are they better workers? Well in some cases that is possible and this brings up illegal immigrants rife in America; mainly from Mexico I won’t buy into that today, in any case it's none of my business.

On the whole this is not the case I myself am sending a copy of this to my Prime Minister whether it will do any good is up to God’s will (note not Allah we speak English here just like the average American) I was prompted to some extent to write this by some images of some happenings in the Old Dart, they are not recent ones by the way, click on them to enlarge them.

Thank goodness we have to get permits in most states to demonstrate, mind you that is mostly ignored.

Now I do realise that most western countries are or were obliged to accept some refugees according to some UN statute.

The United Nations is in my opinion a sick and sorry mob perhaps if they did the job correctly we may not have been in this sorry predicament today.

The UN should enforce the peace not keep the peace, there is a big difference in construing this, remember taxpayer’s money from all countries in this weak organisation pay dues and pay their military to be part of a UN force in troubled areas of the globe.

Getting back to the article I am writing I tend to wander at times age possibly who cares

It’s about time we stopped and closed up shop not an easy thing to do sadly, we have left it rather late I fear; all of us have if we are honest none of our so called esteemed leaders have much foresight; we voted these clowns into power remember that.

One solution is to vote them out of office once the chance rolls around again.

Hopefully the next administration of the USA will take steps to remedy this situation but I doubt it very much.

I imagine it will be much the same in my country, it’s said the pen is mightier than the sword but I have my doubts at times big ones at that.

Canada has just the same problems so I have read; also Canadian friends inform me of some events there; to be honest it sounds like they are suffering the same problems Australia, America and the UK has

Obviously other European countries suffer the same problems.

I sent a video to a friend in Arkansas the other day; I was assured by him that Americans should see it.

Depicting mainly the US Military helping AND defending other peoples homeland from tyranny, so have a squizz it's worth looking at.

Is anyone grateful Hmm I don’t think so, we also help in our way, help and aid is always forthcoming from Australia we mainly concentrate on our neighbours on the Pacific rim sadly we do not have the cash or resources the American government has else we obviously would help a lot more than we do.

I recall certain governments hostile to America (and us) asking for aid when they suffered an earthquake; something like that anyway and as usual aircraft were or had been dispatched.

This was the same country who embarrassed our allies remember Tehran I damn well do.

Conclusion WAKE UP AMERICA, AUSTRALIA, the UK and other coalition countries before it’s too late.

It is my opinion that the decision (or is it a decision) to send a Customs vessel to pick up the protestors of the Japanese whaling fleet is a bloody piss poor effort on the part of the new Australian government even though the previous government kowtowed to the Japanese also.

Get your finger out Kev old mate and do the job you were elected to do.

Looked at interest rates lately have you? Nah course not too busy signing the Kyoto protocol.

Dishing big hand outs to the state premiers as well.

You’ve had enough time now to assimilate yourself into the nation’s top job.

Now these whalers kick em out send a couple of warships not a bloody customs vessel you are making us the laughing stock of the world.

They may and most likely are a nuisance but you had help from the greens to take the helm of our country so send warships to thwart those little jokers ASAP

Do you recall the war in the Pacific? I thought not well these jokers do not need whales for research they eat whales.

Some of us are taking the Indian/Australian Cricket as gentlemen

In my opinion, the Indian team are and although I want Australia to win, it must be done in a fair contest.

I can hear the wowsers now saying but this is the twenty first century not the eighteenth. So what: rules are rules and should be adhered to and the game must be played in the spirit of the game, at the moment it's not.

After watching the second test match between India and Australia I thought the umpiring a bloody disgrace.

A noted batsman/bowler Andrew Symonds blatantly admitted to being out twice; he was too I saw it.

Bad sportsmanship on the game as a whole

He was not the only one the umpires well I have no words really to describe them needless to say two of them have been dropped for the test match in Perth.

The well known and respected English umpire Richard Bird Affectionally known as Dickie Bird now retired suggested that the West Indian Umpire should retire he is well over that age now to make responsible decisions. another decision of out and boy Dickie is right

The video umpire needs a kick up the backside as well in my opinion.

It is my considered opinion that our opponents the Indian eleven acted a damn site more gentlemanly than our team

Full marks must go to Sachin Tendulkar India’s hero with his magnificent score.

The racial remarks on the field of play must be stamped out at once and it’s no use Australian players denying it let’s face it they have been doing it for years and the sledging that goes on is unreal.

Having been an avid cricket fan for years I know full well that our team is considered the worst in the world when it comes to sledging (making snide remarks and worse to unsettle the batsmen)

Harbhajan Singh was singled out in my view with his so-called racial remarks to Andrew Symonds (not that he did not have cause to as he did), because he is a very fine spin bowler and was taking too many wickets.

Outcome of this; he was suspended for three matches The India team arrived in Canberra yesterday for a match against an ACT Invitational eleven, hoping to put the past week behind them and resume playing. The tour was suspended for two days when the Board of Control for Cricket in India ordered the players to remain in Sydney in protest at the three-match ban imposed on the spinner Harbhajan Singh for allegedly making a racist remark to the Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds.

A quote from John Bertram "John Bertrand, a sailor who won the America's Cup in 1983, who is the chairman of the Sport Australia Hall of Fame wants a meeting with Cricket Australia to demand that the players show more respect to opponents. Unquote" he is certainly right in that.

Ok we play hard and fast as any team should but this goes beyond the pale; look back in your history Australian cricketers and think about the famous bodyline that the old Dart dished out to us who whinged then we did forgotten that have you yeah I figured that.

The time is right to have a friendly meeting between the two teams have a heart to heart discuss it be reasonable

To be frank you looked at times like a pack of wild beasts on the pitch

Thanks to a friend in the USA (I won’t mention her name without permission) I have just only found out about this and by cripes its free you can up grade it though and I shall do so no risk.

It comes out as a flash product from any images you upload whether they are from your own personal computer or on an image site; I reckon it’s a top idea.

You can put music on your production and there are a few themes to choose from

I am hoping that if I upgrade it to the paid version there will be a greater selection of themes and music

Maybe one can put their own music on the shows created!! You can put your finished product onto a CD-Rom I noticed

So it would sure make a beaut gift for somebody to send to their friends and kin

I will find out tomorrow after good nights sleep. Meanwhile enjoy the test flight I made.

Weather In South East Queensland

The weather here since Christmas day has in my opinion been shocking it has hardly stopped raining there is now flood warnings being issued as I type. Click on all images to view

Today on the Sunshine coast it averaged out at 40 millimetres it has been like that for a good ten days I think as it was raining prior to Christmas day the temperature is not average by any means and folk will possibly smile in the Northern Hemisphere but folk here although the average Temperature is (25C approximately) it feels cold to us especially older folk.

The rest of Australia seems to be enjoying hot weather lucky them although they need rain also.

A friend of mine in Coonamble NSW in her weather report told me it was hot and they have just gone through some very bad flooding there.

Here are a couple of images she sent me I did receive more but these appeared the worse well I thought so.

At least the weather in Sydney was fine so the cricket test between India and Australia continued; surprisingly we scored a large total in the first innings despite being on the ropes with a pitiful score from some of our top batsmen.

Thanks to Andrew Symonds (who made a remarkable score) and the tail Enders who also scored well including our newcomer and of course Brett Lee we made a remarkable recovery finishing all out for 463

India lost 3 wickets for 192 by stumps tonight.

With 3 more days to go I am putting my money on Australia still I would I guess?

I thought the umpiring bad as in my opinion Symonds was out at least twice and the commentators agreed with me.

There is now the usual argument raging as to why he did not walk as he knew he was out.

In a nut shell cricket is no longer the Gentleman’s game it once was.

Quilting for the ladies Click to enlarge. I was amazed whilst chatting away to a friend of mine when I asked why she was taking so long to answer and found she was quilting. She then told me quite a bit about it I jokingly asked if there were unions for such people and found that yes there was called Quilting Guilds; I decided to blog it as there may be ladies out there who do not realise about this; lets face it I never still I am just a guy lol. It seems they are all over the place including my own country Looking on here and this I might add is one of many sites in the USA they are called chapters etc. In fact it reminded me of stuff like the Mason’s to be honest; it got kind of interesting in fact I got to bed rather late doing this short post for ladies who pursue this art; well I think it an art. It is intricate work much like crocheting I guess but not for me although I do confess I can sew and at one time knitted mittens etc So ladies maybe you should consider joining one of these chapters I mean you will meet friends with similar interests as yourself and I guess they socialise as well from all accounts Comments most welcome

Geocaching

This it seems is an Internet treasure hunt which kicked off on May one 2000, I myself had never heard of it until a good friend I chat to most days told me of it and gave me the site site today so I figured I would blog it.

This friend does lots of good work re scouting and all sorts of things in that vein.

To reward her scout troop for having cookie drives and for her as she bakes them to send to troops in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, one soldier has donated a GPS for the troop to use in this treasure hunt; it seems one is needed for this latest hobby there is also much info on this on here it works like this a Geocacher usually places a waterproof container of some kind with trinkets or such plus a log book with a pencil.

He or she then notes the caches coordinates and posts them on a website so I presume that is the official site!!

The hunters or seekers obtain these coordinates along with some details and find the cache using hand held GPS receivers and record all in the log.

Usually more treasure is left as the finder has the right to keep what he or she finds.

A great way to spend the weekend instead of watching TV I reckon and a tremendous idea for scouts to do this kind of thing.

I am quite wrapped in the idea the next step is how much does a GPS cost in Australia, I believe it is much cheaper in the USA.

This twenty first Century form of treasure hunting is done in at least a 100 countries all over the world and on all seven continents yes all seven so that means it is done in Antarctica also amazing huh

I shan’t be sorry when all the Christmas celebrations are finally over for another 12 months it is usually a costly time.

I can get back into my normal routine like all of you.

I have naturally been watching the Cricket test between India and Australia with great interest.

Telecast from the Melbourne cricket ground the traditional venue for all Boxing Day cricket tests, the Indians did very well on the first day.

Sadly they were bowled out in their second innings fairly easily; I really thought they had us on the ropes; it is a struggle still out there so the pitch must not be so good to bat on although all the commentators say it is

I seem to be having trouble uploading videos to Myspace for some odd reason no doubt I will get to the bottom of it.

For all you folk that need to convert videos back into MPG from flash on you tube and similar sites try this site it does it online for you and e-mails you the result; a better idea than a lot of other sites that profess to do this for you but you have to get out the old credit card.

This one is completely free; I test drove it and no worries it worked like a charm.

You may have to wait 24 hours for the result but it’s free so I reckon that’s a small price to pay.

Some folk wonder why we do this but there many gains out of it ok so you spot a video on You Tube but cannot embed it as the owner has disabled it.

Solutions download and convert it and post it up yourself on the tube or another of the video sites that are coming out of the woodwork, and hey presto you get an embedment code.

Coonamble NSW Australia Featuring the Historical Museum

Some of the local inhabitants think that Coonamble is out in the back of beyond well maybe not all of them; after having been there at least once every nine months or so for a period of hmm 4 years I guess I kind of got that impression myself but after reading up on the place this is not strictly true.

If you wish to be technical and give it the correct name it is really Coonamble and Macquarie Marshes; not that I saw any marshes on any of my visits.

It is a small town with a population of around 3000 or so, interestingly enough Google maps classify it as a city which I found odd.

It’s a service centre to the largest shire in NSW actually which give or take is around 10,000 square kilometres covering the slopes of the Warrumbungle range.

There quite a few famous Horse stud farms there but Wheat Sheep and cattle kept the town going although sheep took over as the mainstay instead of cattle

Coonamble gets its name from an indigenous word Gunambil, three tribes of our indigenous people were thought to be the original inhabitants in this region of NSW.

First European’s in the area were from the party of John Oxley, the river which is mainly dry was named after Lord Castlereagh who at the time was Secretary of State for the colonies.

Even water from the artesian basin is still used by the town and district.

They also have a museum with quite a few exhibits a daughter of a friend I write to helps out there quite a lot I believe, this is purely voluntary of course.

This museum the Coonamble historical museum is the former Police station which was built in 1886 and converted to the museum a good idea I reckon

There is even a Cobb & Co Coach restored and even loaned out for celebrations etc.

I have no doubt this sort of thing has happened in most of Australian towns as I have seen them in other towns; sadly I never got to see Coonamble’s museum.

More on climate Change

Farmers and fuel companies reckon Bio Fuels could help save earth from this global warming which in some circles is being called a catastrophe but this again smells of money to be made.

The farmer’s well they do not fare so well here in Australia due to the terrible droughts we have so I don’t begrudge them the means to earn money as half the time a lot of them exist on social security payments.

Fuel companies are a completely different kettle of fish they are greedy they know they can sell their product with no worries

Of course at the same time I realise that the population of our planet is increasing hugely so we do need better methods as to the care of us all so the need for a scientific study is on the cards

The thing is we get these studies all the time using our money to fund them; these scientists may well be devoted to their profession but why use public money (ours) when private institutes can employ them.

Do we ever hear of one of the giant petroleum companies offering here no I thought not.

In January of this year in fact the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) gave the major oil companies one week to get their act together and bring petrol retail prices into line, with the Singapore unleaded petrol price so obviously this was a breach of the rules so as to give their shareholders a massive profit; at our expense of course.

Whether they have done this remains doubtful to me as my petrol price when I fill up is still spiraling up and up as no doubt it is in countries like the UK and the USA.

Big hearted of them huh British Petroleum (BP) is another of these giant companies; they along with others are responsible for the destruction of rain forest in Brazil.

Mind you this will happen well it is already due to the demand for these bio fuels.

Simply put the land is needed to make this happen

This puts the oil mob into a quandary as it has to sell its product.

What I don’t understand is why; we have heaps of oil reserves here in Canada, the USA and off Brazil even offshore in the UK have them.

About time a nuclear car was invented (it probably has) but the oil companies won’t want that.

To sum up this world is in one hell of a mess and it’s about time somebody did something they will when it’s too late.

I still don’t reckon that all this is changing our climate maybe a little but it has always been that way.

To be fair since the industrial revolution methane levels in our atmosphere have increased by as much as 145% but this is evolution for heaven’s sake look at the space garbage orbiting our planet all these things contribute to this BUT nature will work this out not us puny people never fear like she has done in the past.

Global warming

Whose fault is this?

I am talking global warming here and to me it’s a natural phenomenon nothing to do with greenhouse gasses and all the B/S put around by various western world governments all on the advice of their scientists.

These scientists may have degrees and so forth but a lot use this clothe and feed their selves and their families simply on grants, did I hear you say how... your money the taxpayers money that's how.

This phenomenon occurs naturally.

Companies are cashing in on this and we are stupid enough not to see it.

Why even one of the power companies in Queensland here uses as its main selling topic this idea of giving away for free 6 light globes or bulbs (it seems they stop carbon emissions) I did not take much notice of this ridiculous idea to try to obtain customers; not that the idea won't aid in managing this problem as it will

When they are freely up for sale in stores and shops and the previous government outlawed the old type; not a good selling point mate sez I to the salesman, now if you offered me free power for three months; I might listen to you, and closed the door.

This problem naturally occurs on earth if you care to go and take at squizz at all the info on the subject; I did.

I read a few links kindly sent to me by a friend in Arkansas and was simply amazed at what was said on them.

It seems in one incident a threatening e-mail was sent to a sceptic and reckoned he the writer would bring this bloke to his knees for daring to challenge corporate America; I’m a sceptic I may spell the word differently but would have told him to go to hell.

This kind of stuff we don’t need it smacks of exhortation and money for starters.

Having said all this I would go along with trying to manage this natural RE-OCCURRING phenomenon.

Maybe we should stop sticking our oar into other countries problems and spend the taxpayer’s cash on doing just that for a change.

I see on the chart up here that the USA is one of the biggest offenders but I understand why.

All this waffling by their Senate gets on my nerves to be candid the jokers get paid enough, by you of course.

This is not to say I disagree with the Kyoto protocol as we should Endeavour to stop India and RED China from belching out their filthy emissions; these can and do cause disease but on the subject of global warming would it help? Slightly perhaps but its not going to stop it happening in my opinion.

I see (Sir) Richard Branson lobbed three BILLION into the pot to help, good old Dick, and here’s that joker whinging about being a sceptic and challenging Corporate America; money where your big mouth is Michael T Eckhart, where’s your money to aid in managing an event that occurs naturally.

You jokers make me want to puke you are not worth a two bob bit none of youse.

So the Yanks think we are becoming an insular people

Due to the new government we now have I reckon that American thoughts about us Aussies are becoming worrying: not to worry youse good folk over there some of the figures shown in this report by the Herald Tribune are in my estimation sheer rubbish.

Mind you it does look that way but it is only the Government you have in power at the moment that has sparked off a lot of this; I fancy this will change once the Democrats resume control of the Whitehouse.

Also we are becoming sick of your language and junk food influence so I read on OUR ABC NEWS this morning I go along with some of that but it will never change in my opinion besides I like MacDonald’s tucker myself lol I often have it.

Yeah well the language problem may be annoying to some of us but who cares I certainly (sure) don’t

It is not just in this country that this has happened have a squizz at other western countries, in particular the UK, they are as bad,

On a visit to the old dart in 1987 I made a beeline for MacDonald’s to stuff myself with a burger.

I read further we don’t approve of your Gun Laws well maybe not but it’s not our business what you folk do over there is it.

Hopefully this message will get through to the Malaysian Government, I personally have my doubts it will but I have found that if one persists in the end It will bear fruition.

Well Peter is persisting and I am going to help in my small way as well.

I ask that more of you citizens of this world join with me in trying to aid this country it will not take a lot of your time.

I have read on other sites (in the main social networking sites) that other countries have their woes as well; they obviously do, we have ours in Australia also.

Peter however is doing something about his countries problems in his own way and I applaud him for that; there is an element of risk for him in this Endeavour but he and a lot of others are still trying anyway.

They say that the pen is mightier than the sword; in this case I certainly hope it pans out well.

SWEARING IN OF THE NEW HEAD OF THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT

So it is finally official here in the land down under we have a brand spanking new Prime Minister, a former diplomat and an entirely different look altogether from former Australian labor party leaders, he has charisma folks much more than I can say of our last Prime Minister or his Treasurer.

He was sworn in with his cabinet today by the Governor General who represents Queen Elizabeth more to come on her later.

His first job it seems is to ratify the Kyoto Protocol this may cause estrangement with the Bush administration as will the return of our troops from Iraq, I have just read he has signed it already good on yah Kev.

I often get letters from Americans saying our force there is puny; of course its puny we may have a huge country but the population here is so small compared to the American one.

I did read they were stretched to breaking point as well.

Like them we have military commitments in other parts of the world, they also double up as border guards patrolling our seas

Kev did say that in his first term he would not be looking into the Republican issue; no doubt that will be on in 4 years time, why should we have a Governor General admittedly appointed by the federal government when we can have a president as head of state.

That deals with the Queen for the moment who needs her we sure don’t, Canada is welcome to her and all the hangers on she brings with her.

I don’t agree with changing our flag however as many men and women died serving that flag, no outbursts from any American on this please you have a state that has the British union jack on its flag, for those that do not know which one it is Hawaii.

I wish Prime Minister Kevin Rudd all the best in this his first term as head of the Australian federal government and the Parliament.

Interest rates should be high on the agenda as they seem to be spiraling.

I guess that’s it on our new bloke for now but he has my overwhelming support.

Young warned over social websites

Be careful Facebook users I have been reading a very reliable piece of news on the BBC and it seems your privacy can be at stake here apart from the larrikins on there, as I see it folk will have to say just who they are; I cant see that happening myself but certainly hope so This comes after my whinge about the site yesterday, a shame as it’s a good site and ideal to while away your free time Millions yes Millions of young people are in jeopardy with the details they post on Facebook Obviously they don’t wish their employers to know these details, I have always been wary on some of these sites.

The worrying thing is this site is free so who pays for it? Good question, having a stab at it I reckon they use personal details which could lead to spam I reckon, Mind you I was hassled on there recently but nothing to do with this article I read My advice is BE WARNED there are a lot of nasties out there It’s a tad different in the UK I read as to users in the USA they have young members whilst in the UK they seem to be older.

I did read there are 14 year olds using it I have a suggestion to Facebook why not have a special site for children that age? It makes perfect sense to me There are quite a few articles on the BBC about this site; the best way is to click on the links I made (usually green) to get more info

This is probably true of most social networks but I hope not

Yes well it needs to be looked at and I am referring to Facebook here, I like the site I like a lot of the things possible to do on there however I found a not so nice side.

They have a search for friends on it called advanced search so I took advantage of this to search for more friends; bad idea.

When you click on a Facebook user on this programme more than likely there is a picture, the snag is in a lot of cases they are group pictures, ok so I thought I would just click on them all figuring I would come up with at least one hit, the ages are on there so I was looking for folk around about my age group, wrong it seems like a lot of sites people lie re their age in a big way.

So me here got a message saying how dare you write a message to a young girl on the Internet by a supposed friend of the person I clicked on, she called me terrible things etc I expect you get the drift.

I DID NOT EVEN KNOW HOW OLD THIS PERSON WAS but thinking about it what the hell is a child doing on one of these sites; yes very strange and considering the age groups I searched were from 60 years and up well it upset me slightly.

I flagged it of course with Facebook I was only given 2 options for a complaint Spam and harassment; I picked the latter.

Needless to say I will never search on it again; I have 20 friends on there so I think that will do me.

My youngest one on there by the way is 30 but then again she is my niece.

Not entirely unexpected in Australia

The good ole Australian Labor party romped home as was expected some here would have called it a Rout including me.

The monies some of the retiring ministers will receive including use of free air travel to me are horrendous when lots of us are on the breadline; incoming Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is leaving things as they stand he was quoted as saying today.

The Member for Bennelong ex Prime Minister John Howard has lost his seat to ex ABC (Australia) news reader and reporter Maxine McKew, the smirking ex treasurer Peter Costello was re-elected into the parliament but decided to stand down for election as head of the Liberal party.

The new Prime Minister elect is rumoured to be sworn in with his new ministry on Monday in the capital Canberra, this depends of course on the Labor parties choice at their Caucus meeting and a woman as Deputy Prime Minister that sounds good, not before time lots of us would say me included.

Kev promised us faster broadband I can’t wait for that to happen, on the other hand John Howard point blank refused to make it faster; a deal with semi government Telco Telstra is my guess.

On a not so nice note it seems that former Guantanamo Bay prisoner an Australian citizen Mamdouh Habib has filed a defamation suit against a columnist of Nationwide News saying he had made false claims this occurred in front of American and Australian officials.

I recall the case very well as do lots of Australians. No smoke without fire is my contention here, guess he may collect some cash; small recompense for his suffering or his family is my view.

At long last Australia throws off the conservative yoke

At long last Australia throws off the conservative yoke ************************************************************************************** I have of course been watching (well I still am) the election on of whether or not our incumbent Prime Minister will lose the election well I do believe he has in more ways than one. He may well lose his seat as the Member of Parliament for Bennelong in fact it seems likely he will. Not a word has he said so far nary a word. In news just in he has conceded defeat. So Mr.Rudd will be sworn in as the new PM and his deputy PM who is a woman Julia Guillard which will make a pleasant change Well there was a murmur he wanted to wait until all postal votes come in; these come from all over the world wherever Australians are on holiday and such. To me it matters not he has lost the reins of power sadly his offsider retained his seat but in opposition only. One thing that does bother me with the change, our relationship will change with the USA but not for long if their democrats get complete power so for my American friends roll on 2008. These results can be seen on this site but; for how long is not known it may be a temporary site for this event. So to sum up goodbye John and welcome Kev who incidentally went to school in my home town well done Kev.

A couple of news items and bibs and bobs

I see that the commonwealth action group in the Commonwealth of Nations (TCAG), formerly known as the British Commonwealth and at one time the British Empire; is having a shot at the dictator Pervez Musharraf in Pakistan.

It has been mooted whether to kick them out of the commonwealth

Good on them I reckon there is something wrong with the man.

Pakistan was indeed suspended from this organisation for 5 years at one time after a coup in the country but was reinstated after he appeared in Mufti instead of his uniform.

These tin pot generals are all the flaming same look at all the troubles committed in a lot of countries by these self styled Autocrats at one time they were referred to as banana republics.

Our foreign Minister Andrew Downer says he would support this action.

He was quoted as saying whilst Australia is not a member of the TCAG he would support such a motion I read this on a reputed media site our very own ABC

This meeting of the CHOGM is being held in Uganda.

We will be represented by our high commissioner in London at these talks including Prince Charles Who is campaigning or practising in his role to be become King our own PM has his hands full and facing an election defeat could not attend(hooray) still one never knows at the polls Joe Public could revise their thinking on the 24^th

On a lighter note some joker listed the Prime Minister’s official residence in Sydney (Kirribilli House) for sale what a hoot and this has happened before it seems. "Current occupant considering a move even if a new lease is signed. one line went" another also urged would be buyers to move quick as it was likely interest rates could go up shortly. The director of Fairfax decided to go ahead with the advertisement knowing it was a mere joke; good onyah mate its nice to see some of us have retained their humour

I know I did a blog about me working away on my new website in my last post but I am getting there and now have many photo albums on it and quite a few videos as well.

To make things harder one of my computers failed to start up and silly me could not find the windows disc to reboot it.

After persevering into the wee hours I finally got it booted up so the language was bad here as you can imagine.

I have a blog on it if you register you can comment I have only just started it so only 2 posts up to now; maybe 1 more tonight.

I have even put a dictionary and thesaurus there to make it easier.

My son who was responsible for getting hosting etc says I am doing just fine so that’s good.

He reckons its ok and here’s me more concerned about my health.

Still it keeps the mind alert thus staving off that demon Alzheimer’s so I have been told; it’s true though in my opinion.

I also seem to be getting quite a few friends on Facebook as well; only one snag with Facebook it tends to get a tad demanding.

For all that it’s still a very good social network.

Here’s a site that could interest you if you are interested in the English language as spelt in other countries it explains in great detail how Aussies, Canadians British and Americans spell and pronounce their words.

I get sick of my spell checker bringing up the Americanised version all the time even after I have disabled it in word and made Australian English my default.

I did notice on this site that Canadians in the main use British words but American ones are used also.

Personally I can find nothing wrong with the way Americans spell; I know what they mean I was just taught to spell differently that’s all.

Website building Armistice Day

I have been a bit forgetful regarding blogging lately it seems there has been a lot happening for me with one thing and another health is one I do not intend blogging that one.

But I have however finally got a website a personal one a big vote of thanks for it must go to my youngest son who was very enthusiastic about it even though very busy himself making websites and other things for other folk in the course of his business.

He hosted it got me a domain name showed me how to create things on it, it was not an easy task for me getting on in years but I stuck with it.

I seem to have been busy ever since what with editing it, creating a picture gallery there are videos on it in the form of a video diary.

Another feature on it is Google maps another idea from my tormentor er son who arranged that bit showed me how to add maps (I found that bit a tad difficult) it is mainly about my location here on the Sunshine coast so very Australian I guess see here for more.

With all this going on I kind of forgot my usual blog post on Armistice Day or as its known here Remembrance day I wore a poppy of course, I think in the USA it is called veterans day.

I did do a little blog about it after all I seem to be losing it.

I don’t need to rave on about it as most of us know what it means although there are times when I wonder if it was worth it the way things are shaping up in the world today sadly.

Two items of note

____________________________________________________________________ 0ne is Facebook the latest in social networking; much better in my opinion than Orka or Myspace. Facebook can keep you occupied for hours if you allow it,there are so many things to do on there it will be late into the small hours if you don't keep your eye on the clock; you won't though hence the reason I have not blogged this month. Apparently Google was all set for this I suspect because Orka is no match for it but Microsoft beat them too it. I now know why my youngest son joined it; he swears by Microsoft the old man does not. Normally these social networks don't interest him. Whoever owns it is no concern of mine it's there and so I use it. I am a member of My space but at the moment it's running second in these networks. I recommend it to my readers if I have any!! Meant to mention the day Australia stops for ten minutes it is the second Tuesday in November for the Melbourne cup, Bet you all thought it was ANZAC day or Remembrance Day also known as Armistice day. Please Don't forget tomorrow Sunday the 11/11 2007 for two minutes silence (now whittled to to one minute here) to remember on the eleventh hour, They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the Morning. We will remember them. Lest we forget. I often wonder was their sacrifice worth it and other sacrifices in other world wars and at times I wonder. Comments most welcome
