Website building Armistice Day

I have been a bit forgetful regarding blogging lately it seems there has been a lot happening for me with one thing and another health is one I do not intend blogging that one.

But I have however finally got a website a personal one a big vote of thanks for it must go to my youngest son who was very enthusiastic about it even though very busy himself making websites and other things for other folk in the course of his business.

He hosted it got me a domain name showed me how to create things on it, it was not an easy task for me getting on in years but I stuck with it.

I seem to have been busy ever since what with editing it, creating a picture gallery there are videos on it in the form of a video diary.

Another feature on it is Google maps another idea from my tormentor er son who arranged that bit showed me how to add maps (I found that bit a tad difficult) it is mainly about my location here on the Sunshine coast so very Australian I guess see here for more.

With all this going on I kind of forgot my usual blog post on Armistice Day or as its known here Remembrance day I wore a poppy of course, I think in the USA it is called veterans day.

I did do a little blog about it after all I seem to be losing it.

I don’t need to rave on about it as most of us know what it means although there are times when I wonder if it was worth it the way things are shaping up in the world today sadly.

Two items of note

____________________________________________________________________ 0ne is Facebook the latest in social networking; much better in my opinion than Orka or Myspace. Facebook can keep you occupied for hours if you allow it,there are so many things to do on there it will be late into the small hours if you don't keep your eye on the clock; you won't though hence the reason I have not blogged this month. Apparently Google was all set for this I suspect because Orka is no match for it but Microsoft beat them too it. I now know why my youngest son joined it; he swears by Microsoft the old man does not. Normally these social networks don't interest him. Whoever owns it is no concern of mine it's there and so I use it. I am a member of My space but at the moment it's running second in these networks. I recommend it to my readers if I have any!! Meant to mention the day Australia stops for ten minutes it is the second Tuesday in November for the Melbourne cup, Bet you all thought it was ANZAC day or Remembrance Day also known as Armistice day. Please Don't forget tomorrow Sunday the 11/11 2007 for two minutes silence (now whittled to to one minute here) to remember on the eleventh hour, They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the Morning. We will remember them. Lest we forget. I often wonder was their sacrifice worth it and other sacrifices in other world wars and at times I wonder. Comments most welcome

Malcolm Fraser a former liberal conservative Prime minister way back has the right idea regarding Australia going to war, not of my political persuasion Mr Fraser said that he thinks our government should take a vote on whether to go to war or not.

I think he has a point a big one the Australian people are fed up funding a war which seems to be another Vietnam as are most of the American people.

After all the fuss and ado with the Iraqi campaign (which is still going on) we should never have got involved in the first place.

Now we are paying the price according to this ARTICLE the American congress do vote also as Malcolm says and I quote "The failure in Iraq demonstrates that the idea of American unilateralism has been extraordinarily destructive," he said. "The twin towers (attack) enabled them to establish an aggressive unilateral foreign policy … It was based on ideas that were doomed to fail.” unquote

Let us hope that whoever wins the 2007 federal election makes damn certain we implement this suggestion in the Parliament whilst at the same time withdrawing our troops.

It matters not what the Bush administration thinks one iota we must ensure that we do not continue with the stupidity the Bush administration seems to insist on.

We here are a sovereign nation and are not beholden to the likes of Bush and his lackey’s.

The American people get their chance soon to get rid of their commander in chief; I’m sure they will pick the right person for the job this time; they seem to be sick of him as well

My prayers are with the folk of California tonight after the horrific fires it must be downright awful and to think that some of these fires were deliberately started well the mind boggles.

What a sick world when people stoop to being LESS than an animal by doing this has baffled me completely.

I feel absolutely no sorrow at all for the arsonist that was shot dead or the one arrested and I wish the authorities all the luck in the world to catch the rest as surely there must be more.

At least with the intervention of the POTUS more help will be given to our Californian friends, I was horrified to read of the number of evacuations etc well shocked and stunned would be a better way of describing this.

Whether a political stunt or not I am so pleased that somebody has had the guts to get up the RED CHINESE NOSE IN BEIJING the Han just marched on Tibet and just took the Himalayan hill kingdom just like that years ago, I blogged it once.

Why should any of us cozy up to Red China we buy their goods that should be sufficient, you have to remember that the Red Chinese Government are really brutal killers never forget what they did to their own children in Tiananmen Square I rather liked it when my own Prime Minister finally agreed to talk to his Holiness the Dalai Lama, he did not want to but his hand was forced.

I’d like to think that the POTUS was not forced and it does appear not, and to present him with his nations highest civilian award the

Congressional Medal of Honor

is simply great and a way of annoying our trading partner to the North.

I like annoying them a lot.

Well not fanatics but just people concerned about their security.

All we hear lately is news on spammers / scammers and sadly it’s getting worse, I had to pay my provider extra cash to keep spam out of my account needless to say a bit still slips through the net.

These lowlifes are also on eBay I have run foul of em so the odds are you will or have, nothing it seems is sacred these days except the mighty dollar, you are stepped on abused etc.

Not content with that these lower than low lowlifes resort to phoning you at meal times yeah tell me about it.

eBay has a video all about it; it might be a good idea to have a squiz at it I put it on this blog post, actually this is but one of 5 videos on eBay all have a similar message.

Since I spend a fair bit of time on eBay I figured I would pass this on plus a tip of my own which is when I sell to my own country I prefer to be paid by direct bank cash or online deposit, I use Paypal only if I purchase goods overseas.

I found it quite safe, a friend in Idaho told me she uses it and has had no problems, and a guy at my bank told me he uses it as well.

He also gave me some sound advice on buying by credit online, I won’t insult your intelligence by saying what advice, but you could ask at your bank or financial institution if you think you need advice ok eyes down look at the video.

Cricket on the sub continent can get violent at times crowds, betting and things of that nature plus the heat all these things help joggle this along.

So this incident with the bird and the aircraft in which both teams were traveling in may just help both sides keeping their cool.

I find it sad in a lot of cases that razor wire is on a lot of the grounds a crude form of crowd control if you ask me.

Human nature being what it is sadly it is necessary in some cases and not just in India I assure you.

I myself still think there should be an investigation into the claim of racism as it happens and much more than the average bloke seems to think when he is viewing the sport at his local club complete with grog of course.

It definitely goes on and by all teams usually I have just received an e-mail from a fellow blogger who is Indian and lives there this is his blog well one of them here but this is what told me I quote!! And the audience wasn’t actually Monkey chanting against Symonds. They were praying. They were calling out "Ganapathi Bappa Moriya", which is praising Lord Ganapathi. They were praying since the batsmen were getting out. The chant, well, honestly, to someone who isn’t familiar with the Indian Gods and local language, will not be able to make head or tail of it, and will sound weird. !!Unquote.

I have no reason to disbelieve this in fact it makes sense to me at least

This sledging and discrimination has gone on ever since I was a boy but it is much worse nowadays.

You are a good channel for most sports so I watch at times I watch your news occasionally but what got me was when I switched on at 5 AM this morning and you were screening the (American ABC) so I guess my question is why? this is Australia not America, one wonders do Americans watch Australian news before their own comes on OF COURSE THEY DON’T why should they anything of interest from our shores is on their own broadcasts and vice versa.

Such a waste of money and I don’t suppose you are the only channel that does this as I have heard rumours of CNN being watched.

We are all into my space and all these other social networks for example; it doesn’t mean a thing Mom and Dad Grandma and Grandpa.

But I assure you it really does you will never ever discover comradeship like the world scouting movement does not ever unless you count the military and come on be honest nobody really wants to be a soldier except the dedicated few (thank God for the dedicated few and draftees) I must not forget them guys.

After my previous whinge about you tube I found I had an excellent video clip on the centenary of world scouting so I have included it in this blog.

If I have put it on before forgive me as I may have being a bit long in the tooth now (what teeth lol).

All are welcome to join the scouting movement started by Lord Baden Powel one100 years ago now.

Originally it was a boy’s only affair but that stopped and the girls are very welcome.

As you can see by the video clip and there are others on the site scouts will or have climbed Mount Everest a mob from Hampshire in the UK.

Amazing huh when you think about it.

There is a scout den near my house but to be honest I have never seen any scouts here; there obviously is of course.

Now don’t laugh but I was a cub leader myself as a young man and I have a friend in the USA who is a scout leader of an all girl troop takes them camping etc I won’t mention the area she lives in as I think she wants to remain anonymous so I will honour her wishes.

There are no racial prejudices here or religious ones which I think are of our own making personally.

So come on enlist enroll whatever and put some fun back in your life you can always tell your pals on my space, I am a member of my space myself but I don’t quite understand it all; I still gave it a shot though.

You Tube and copyright law

I notice that you tube dealt me a shady under the belt notification the other day,

I was told that they had decided to make a video I uploaded as a breach of copyright and it has been up there for months, I originally got it from friends via e-mail so my view is if it can be sent via e-mail to all and sundry why does that not constitute a breach of the copyright law.

I must say that I did check beforehand and it was just fine but it seems not. Click on the image to see it better.

The letter in part said.

I quote!! This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. claiming that this material is infringing: !! Unquote.

You can read all of it on here but I fear that this is just sour grapes on the part of the ABC the strange thing is they did not remove it so I did.

I had the usual threats so I think I might stay with live video for a while and see how things turn out.

It seems you can make things worse if you complain if you read it, I don't like being held to ransom

I am tempted to remove all my videos and put them up on live video but I just can’t be bothered.

I have the facilities to download them and convert them back to WVI format but in my view it is just not worth it.

Joost number one in free internet TV not to be confused with classic cinema online.

I have now been informed that Joost TV

Is now available to all and not just by invitation only which is good to know I do advertise it on my blog as invitation only but peoples that has now changed.

Do not confuse this with classic cinema online which I personally quite like there are many old movies on classic cinema on line my particular liking is the spaghetti westerns I saw so many years ago.

Take your pick folks I find them both good also on classic cinema online there is a chat room (chatty world central); this is also featured in the sidebar of my blog and I thoroughly recommend all of these sites.

There is none of the huge downloads which one gets if they use the bits torrent method either.

Another search engine just launched and stuff

Yep a new search engine folks and Australian as well wow

It has not got the look of Google or Yahoo as yet but I think it soon will; ok so MSN has one as well anyway check it out here or have a SQUIZ as we say here.

At the moment I am not that impressed with it but it has to get better, the law of averages says that

I was writing to a friend the other day and it was mentioned having a few bucks on the slots.

I am not too certain what states have them but I found it interesting as here in the land down under they are here in every state in casinos licenced clubs and quite a few hotels or pubs.

I must emend that slightly as I read there are none in Western Australia only in a casino there.

When I first came here the only state that had them was New South Wales and folks in Victoria got coach trips over the border just to play them.

That of course is finished and the bloody things are everywhere, gone are the days when you could pop into a pub for a drink and a chat, now you can still pop into a pub for a drink but nobody socialises anymore.

It was rumoured in NSW many years ago that these machines which in those days came from the USA were Mafia controlled but I could not swear to that.

I did read that the Bally Company in Australia represented by Jack Rooklyn (an Australian) was from Chicago and could have been Mafia controlled just hearsay of course.

Then there is Ainsworth the Aussie poker machine king and well over 80 here he is pictured below.

So I suppose summing up they are ok now and again but not 365 days per year or 363 as most clubs and pubs if they do open on Good Friday or Christmas day do not permit the playing of machines as far as I know.

Is this the way to live?

I don’t think so and hopefully most of us don’t either.

We have poverty in western countries that can be fixed merely by affixing a signature in the various governments like senates parliaments congresses etc I could go on and on.

These problems are not fixed either but the plight of some oppressed people in countries like Burma can be, this is just Red Chinese oppression and will go on and on until something is done.

This oppression by the Chinese Government is a bloody disgrace this is the same mob who wants the world to visit Beijing next year for the 2008 Olympics.

If I had the cash I would not go out of sheer principle, I may watch some of it on my Television set as I like sport but that’s as far as will go I assure you, especially reading about Burma (DON’T FORGET TIBET) by the way will you.

Then of course there are places like Darfur in the Sudan for four years, over 200,000 people from Darfur have been brutally killed by Sudan's military dictatorship

Foreign aid to this country at one time was appropriated by authorities in Khartoum but I believe that has been stopped.

Aid that was donated by our own Australian people was discovered to have not been delivered that quite shamed me but the excuse was it was not getting to where it was needed; I and thousands of other Australians don’t believe that excuse at all not for a moment no sir.

We sadly live in a rotten world countries in the west do help it is true, some say why should they, I SAY WE SHOULD.

It is reported that the USA has not been above board with us all re the events in Iraq either, it tells you as well on this SITE

Spammers and your guestbook

Or Project Honey pot as it’s known as

A strange name to be sure but it is only a name and as long as it does what is designed to do who cares what it is called I sure don’t.

This is all related to E-guestbooks on your blog or website and its function is to catch spammers.

It does this by you installing code on your site that is invisible to us mere humans BUT is visible to spam robots, so I guess you could say us idiotic humans caused this so what’s new?

Still these guys have come up with what is hopefully a cure for spam but only on blog or websites, I must stress this.

Mind you if your address is on your site well then it will be found as e-mail addresses are in fact sold to unscrupulous folk who then bombard you with spam.

This project is run in conjunction with your guestbook only ok.

It even gives IP addresses of suspected spammers and shows you how to find them.

There is also an e-mail address you can send your spam to and they will look into it "

spam@uce.gov

So all you bloggers out there should I hope find this of interest.

I did at one time have an e-mail and Blogging friend who denied getting spam mail; still I can believe it as the secrecy of this friend was amazing I don’t think she had a lot of mail to be honest.

Some lessons learned

Harsh ones at times

I have been dabbling with eBay and OZtion (an Aussie auction site) well I use the Australian eBay site too for obvious reasons.

I mean I live in this sunburnt country

I am afraid I went overboard with this Auction business and now have three soon to be four computers at home and three more at my sons place.

I have called a halt to this two I gave to my son one he is using as a server he told me.he is using the other for his personal computer.

The third one he has is my original computer that he kindly gave me but I stuffed it up whilst experimenting making a partition on the drive so I could install Ubuntu an alternative to Microsoft windows.he is going to try fix the Bios but fears the worst. my own stupid fault I hat a lot of data on it as well . yes you twigged it I never made a back up so remember peoples make one for peace of mind.

My e-mail inbox is now full of mail from auction sites telling me what is being auctioned etc.

I have purchased some bargains it is true but my son says I will not make a profit re selling them again.

I am afraid he seem right but I shall still keep the best two plus my old one for menial tasks like burning DVD;S and also CD’S now and then Endeavour to sell them; all the same, I shall never get to the USA if I keep this up.

I want to visit there and Canada as well before I vanish from this mortal coil I tell yah.

My days now are filled with memory chips larger hard drives stuff like that; not to mention software like windows and office in fact I sadly bought a Sata 250 Gig hard drive brand new. Still in the box but not for long.

What my cleaning lady thinks I have no idea but when she pops in every 14 days her cry is good grief another one it must drive her bloody bonkers.

So you know about New Year resolutions right well mine is starting early this year, in fact it started as I put these words up on my blog and that’s fair dinkum.

My oath it is.

I am annoyed the partitioning never worked out all the same as I want to see Ubuntu.

Hanging in there Just

These two are soooo lucky they are still here the idiot on the left will hopefully be gone from the political scene here in Australia before Christmas, the other has to go next year 2008 is his limit.

Actually, I never wanted the self-styled World’s Police Commissioner to come here at all along with most Australians, but he has to as he represents America in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit or APEC as it is usually called

In fact, in a first for us here the USA was permitted to use their secret service officials armed. I reckon they have done it before personally.

This goes against all our laws here but I can understand the reason, this of course does not mean to say I like the circumstances, as I do not.

I wonder if other world leaders who visit the USA are allowed the luxury of having armed bodyguards!! I would say yes though as sadly the USA is in my view gun mad at times.

APEC, was established in 1989 to further enhance economic growth and prosperity for the region, and to strengthen the Asia-Pacific community, so a good idea for all concerned.

I do hope that the red Chinese are taken to task over its policies but I doubt it as what is getting most people annoyed with Communist China has actually nothing to do with APEC’S agenda at all; still while all these nations are together I reckon it is a good idea to bring up things like the Kyoto protocol.

Global warming and all that jazz; get stuck into that while they are all at the conference table is my view.

This war in Iraq which I think could well spread to include Iran is something else again; these two dill’s have and will be discussing this mark my words, most of us are now sick of reading about it; what stuck in my craw was the way our foreign minister described the views of our defence forces.

To quote Downer “Australian soldiers do not wish us to pull out of Iraq” unquote sadly he may well be right BUT for all the wrong reasons.

The real reason I reckon is that they get a large sum of money tax free to go to Iraq, Afghanistan and other trouble spots.

I do wish those things had applied to me when I did my time as a soldier but no I signed on the dotted line to serve her Majesty’s forces just like the ones today I am still wondering if I did something wrong or was it a progress thing, silly me of course it was.

Happy Father’s Day you blokes

Yep Father’s day here in Australia,

Daughter took me to lunch I had to buy the grog of course but the tucker was good and I got a decent bottle of port as well so all up a good day,

The card made me smile have a squiz lol inside it said

The youngest son has made me smile as well as you can see.

On the inside, it said on the outside there is a lot of BULL oh well happy Father’s day anyway lol.

Blogging as a diary and other such muck

I did read on a blog recently that blogging is not considered the ideal place to write as though it was a diary but blogging in my view can be about anything under the sun really.

The strange thing is a blogger I know encouraged me at one time to write about certain events which I did even stranger is that this blogger also does the same things; weird huh!!

I also read they do not consider the insertion of embedment’s of videos on a blog as it slows things down for the reader; maybe it does but it is my business what I blog about.

One wonders do they know how to do that!!

I have videos I could put on a blog but I will not as I was asked not to but I admit to thinking about it.

Some great images are on it of the Pacific North West in the USA oh well maybe I will and maybe I will not who knows.

As long as the mild sledging I am reading at the moment keeps on keeping on I shall think seriously of blogging it.

Above the lower forty-eighth

Alaska is AKA the forty-ninth state a state that is the largest American state in the union of the USA.

Alaskans call their state that or did according to a fascinating book I have just read finished it too about the IDITAROD Sled race a very gruelling race and not for the faint hearted.

A race that runs for 1 150 miles/ 1 850.7456 kilometres so one hell of a race.

In atrocious conditions women enter this race by the way, it has also been won by a woman I read somewhere on one of these links, who said women were the weaker sex Hmm; one of us blokes I guess.

Usually after a ceremonial start from Anchorage the true start is from Wasilla but this can be changed it depends on weather conditions and so forth but it ends in Nome under the burled arch

It has been said that it the US senate tried to ban it but I notice it is all actions go for 2008 the 2007 has been run already.

It gives heaps of photos and stats on the race on here also so very interesting indeed a definite must for a blog in my opinion.

Alaskans remind me very much like our own pioneers in Australia so I quite enjoyed doing this blog on it.

Mooloolaba Queensland Australia

A coastal town on the sunshine coast renowned for surfing, fishing etc; a resort area about 100 kilometres (I don’t do Fahrenheit go and Google it) a friend I write to in the USA said she does not do Celsius so here's my reply. (just teasing you Carol.)

North of the state capital of Queensland Brisbane Australia, I go there at times instead of Maroochydore also a resort township, only a few kilometres separate the two towns.

I myself on first moving up to Queensland (Qld) from New South Wales (NSW) lived in Maroochydore but I now live about a fifteen-minute drive away inland.

I often go to both places and of the two; I think Mooloolaba looks more like a Mediterranean town or resort it has alfresco types of bistros and cafes.

It has a beaut Surf Club also there are night clubs there well I admit to spotting one at least not being a night club person.

Underwater world is also there a place where the fishing trawlers come in so I get fresh seafood from them.

All in all a great little place and I am off again there tomorrow so I do hope the welcome rain has stopped for an hour or so.

Falls off the Rocker

I could find no other way to link to this blog except by me doing a short post on it.

It amused me greatly to be honest; this blog now has a new look.

Much superior to the old one I reckon so if I might make a suggestion why don’t youse all go and have a squiz at it.

Lots to do on this site as well, in fact I found all manner of things on it.

It seems they have as much fun in Kentucky as we do here in Queensland.

John Williamson

John is an Australian country singer some might liken his songs to folk songs and I would not argue with that.

I think he is good personally; my musical tastes are diverse and I like serious music as well as heavy rock, pop, many country and western singers Johnny Cash was a favourite of mine still is I guess.

Bruce Springsteen is another favourite of mine and yes, I know they are a bit long in the tooth now.

Thankfully not as old as some that a few of my e-mail friends send me, most of the time I just delete them I believe in the future and not the past.

The last one Waltzing Matilda is not our National Anthem either and for years it was forbidden to play or sing it at Rugby test matches but we now do, I guess its our answer to the New Zealand Haka!! The scoffing scientist

Why not he is a member of the US Coastguard team aboard a US Coastguard ship which is headed to the Arctic to map the sea floor off Alaska an American state BUT Russia Denmark and Canada are asserting their claims in the region which of course has potential oil and natural gas reserves.

The thing is they are denying flag dropping such crap; they would I guess the USA does not like being usurped.

It might look legit but under it, all is the certain worry that Russia, Canada and Denmark may have something to say about this.

In the past, the USA has helped immensely especially in world war’s one and two but the role of the world’s police has not helped their image.

It is far too late for George Bush to go out like a lion with petty tactics like this.

He is without a shadow of doubt the American peoples worst ever president; I cannot even liken him to our own incumbent Prime Minister and he is a bloody ratbag in my opinion. What that makes Georgie boy is anyone’s guess

However, remember Russia, Denmark and Canada this is being done with him and the USA in mind.

What is more the ordinary citizens do not vote their new President in either it is all done with an electoral roll.

Will Honest John make history?

The way things are going in the conservative camp this is a distinct possibility (I am cheering) the last time a sitting Prime Minister lost his seat was in 1929 yep a long time ago but with the way things are going today re terrorism and immigration this country needs a change like never before.

We have had a conservative government for many years now it is about time Australia had a change in my opinion.

He certainly does not look confident does he and the mere thought that the treasurer Peter Costello might take the reigns of the federal government has most people worried if they are honest of course; quite a few are not honest.

The swing by the way is not due only to labor voters but conservative ones as well this to me signifies his own mob is sick of his style of government.

I know I am, the bonus of 500 bucks whilst welcomed by me will not sway my decision one iota when it comes to polling day.

One only has to look at Costello in the Parliament he looks like a smirking schoolchild who has farted why the public has put up with this jerk is beyond me.

Frankly yes, I want Johnny come lately to make history; this country was built on blood sweat and tears and does not need conservatism to take it away from the working person.

It will also make history in another way as then a duly elected Australian labor party, which I do not think has ever happened, will run all governments of this great country.

At least we make our vote count here not like the UK or the USA, as we are obliged by law to vote thereby ensuring at least a 95% turnout at the polls.

I write to folk from the UK and most of them although arguing politics rarely turn out to vote.

So I surely want glamour Labor candidate Maxine McKew to beat Johnny come lately for sure in fact I want her to zoom in and knock the old crock out of it so go Maxine go go go
